A truly humble individual, William Powell was a walk-on at both junior college and at Kansas State. By hard work and determination, he was able to contribute on special teams in 2009 as a junior, while he became K-State’s regular kickoff returner and backup running back in 2010. He currently leads the nation with a 34.6 yard kickoff return average in part to long returns, including a school-record tying 100-yarder at Baylor earlier this season.
William has been able to persevere through difficult times. Being an un-recruited walk-on at junior college, William was able to become the feature running back at Navarro Junior College and earn first-team All-Conference honors. He has also been able to fight through tough times as his mother passed away during his junior year at Kansas State. He has dedicated this season, including his Senior Night performance to his mother’s memory.
